    Lemon Vinaigrette

It's time to start making your own homemade salad dressing! It's an easy way to control the nutrition of your salads, while also maximizing flavor. My easy Lemon Vinaigrette Salad Dressing is a perfect way to dress a simple green salad or boost flavor with a plate of steamed vegetables.

There really isn't a better feeling than walking right past the salad dressing section at the grocery store, knowing I can mix something up at home my family will love more than anything bought in a bottle. Making homemade lemon olive oil dressing is so simple - you only need a few ingredients and a jar to store it in!

Vinaigrette recipes are not only easy to make, but completely versatile. The fresh lemony flavors mixed with olive oil result in a creamy consistency, creating a great sauce for grilled chicken, seafood, or veggie plates!

    Lemon Vinaigrette Dressing Tips

    • To avoid a bitter dressing, only zest the yellow outer part of the lemon. Try to avoid the inner white area known as the pith.
    • Though this can be whisked in a bowl, I like to make this dressing in a mason jar for easy mixing, pouring, and storing.
    • Remember to always use fresh lemons over a store-bought jar of lemon juice!
    • Remember, vinaigrette is more than a salad dressing! Try it as a sauce or marinade!
    • My lemon vinaigrette recipe is gluten-free, but as always make sure to check each product before using it to ensure food safety.

    Lemon Vinaigrette Dressings FAQs

What is a lemon vinaigrette made of?

Lemon vinaigrette is a combination of fresh lemon juice with zest, olive oil, mustard powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, white balsamic vinegar, onion powder, and sugar. Simply mix ingredients into a mason jar and shake!

Why is my lemon vinaigrette bitter?

Lemon vinaigrette could be bitter from zesting the white area around the lemon, otherwise known as the "pith." This is bitter in flavor and will make your vinaigrette bitter as well. Try to only zest the yellow most outer layer by continuously moving the zester around the entire surface of the lemon.

How to Store Lemon Salad Dressing

    • Refrigerator: Homemade lemon vinaigrette can be stored in an airtight container placed in the fridge for up to 1 week! Always shake or whisk the vinaigrette before using it again, as the layers tend to separate in the refrigerator.
    • Freezer: Freeze lemon vinaigrette for up to 6 months when stored in an airtight container or freezer bag. Make sure to give the vinaigrette a good whisk or shake after thawed as freezing a vinaigrette can change the consistency of the dressing. Label the storage container with the freezing date.

How to Make Lemon Vinaigrette Without Mustard

Many vinaigrette recipes utilize Dijon mustard as a way to emulsify a dressing, giving it a thicker consistency (this happens when the mustard reacts with a fat, typically oil). Because this recipe is made in a mason jar, shaking the oil with the balsamic vinegar creates a similar effect.

My lemon vinaigrette recipe is an easy way to make vinaigrette without using actual mustard. Instead, I use dry mustard powder to mimic the tangy, sharp flavors.

If you do not want any of the mustard flavors, simply omit the mustard powder and follow the recipe according to the instructions.

    Lemon Vinaigrette Recipes Variations

    • Lemon Honey Vinaigrette: Make as instructed, but substitute sugar for an equal amount of honey to add a floral aroma and sweet balance to this dressing. I love to use local, seasonal honey-orange blossom, wildflower, sage, or clover, to name a few!
    • Lemon Basil Vinaigrette: Make as instructed and cut 4-6 fresh basil leaves into thin strips to add either directly to the dressing, or sprinkle over the top of your salad after you pour the dressing on it.
    • Lemon Caesar Vinaigrette: Make as instructed, but leave out the onion, garlic, or mustard powder. Add one small minced shallot, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 2 minced anchovy filets, 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard, and 6 tablespoons of freshly grated parmesan cheese. Shake vigorously.

My recipe for lemon vinaigrette is the perfect base to make a variety of fantastic lemon dressings. Simply changing an ingredient here or there can completely change the profile of this sauce!

How to Use Lemon Vinaigrette Dressing

    • Lemon Grilled Chicken: Marinate 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts for up to 3 hours (or overnight) in my easy lemon vinaigrette, then chargrill until perfectly cooked (about 5 minutes on each side, or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F). If you do not want to marinade the chicken, simply grill the breasts using a little olive oil, salt, and pepper. Serve the lemon vinaigrette overtop as a sauce.
    • Seafood: Lemon and seafood are a combination as old as time, and this lemon vinaigrette is a perfect way to marinate shrimp, scallops, or even to serve as a sauce with pan-seared salmon!
    • Vegetarian: For an easy dinner idea, make your favorite pasta and simply toss it with easy lemon vinaigrette! Serve with a fresh sprinkling of parmesan cheese.
    • Drizzle over roasted cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, or a hummus bowl.
    • Use as a dressing for shaved brussels sprouts with pecans, wild rice, dried cranberries, and goat cheese.

bolognese meat sauce on pappardelle pasta in a white dish

My rich and savory Homemade Bolognese Sauce is the most comforting Italian pasta sauce recipe to have in your kitchen! It's great for keeping on hand when you need a stick-to-your-ribs type of meal. Slow-cooked and bursting with flavor, this is the perfect meat sauce for pasta.

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Best Bolognese Recipe

My Bolognese meat sauce recipe starts with a rich tomato sauce where I add plenty of fresh herbs, garlic, and white wine. Savory beef, pork, and pancetta give this sauce its authentic taste and texture.

It is important to give Bolognese meat sauce plenty of time to simmer; you want all the flavors to slowly work together to create this Italian classic!

Once the sauce is ready, the possibilities are endless. Bolognese is a truly versatile recipe! I like to make a big batch of Bolognese sauce to keep on hand for nights when I just don't have the time I need in the kitchen, or for when I'm wanting a comfort food meal.

This recipe is perfect for feeding a larger crowd, a hungry family at the dinner table, or just yourself on a night when a craving for Italian food must be met.

My new favorite meat sauce. I love whipping this up quickly. It is easy and so delicious.

Two plates of bolognese sauce with pasta

    Easy Bolognese Sauce Recipe Ingredients

    • unsalted butter
    • white onion
    • carrots
    • celery
    • garlic
    • tomato paste
    • pancetta, diced ham, or bacon
    • ground beef
    • ground pork
    • white wine
    • milk
    • beef stock
    • whole peeled tomatoes in a can
    • fresh parsley
    • bay leaves
    • salt and pepper

    How to Make Bolognese Sauce

    1. Melt butter in a large pot or Dutch Oven over medium-high heat. Add onions, carrots, celery, garlic, tomato paste, and salt. Saute, stirring often, for 5 minutes or so. If the garlic or onion starts to brown, lower the heat.
    2. Add pancetta and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are fairly soft. Then, mix in the beef and pork about ⅓ at a time, letting most of the liquid evaporate before adding more.
    3. Cook, stirring frequently until all meat is incorporated and no longer pink. All the liquid should be evaporated, and brown bits should begin to stick to the bottom of the pot.
    4. At this point, add white wine to deglaze the pot. Scrape up the brown bits from the bottom of the pan, then lower the heat to prevent them from sticking again. Mix in milk, broth, tomatoes, salt, and pepper, and bring to a boil.
    5. Once boiling, reduce heat to as low as possible to maintain a lazy simmer. Add bay leaves and parsley. Simmer on low, half-covered, for 4 hours, occasionally stirring.
    6. If preparing pasta to go with the meat sauce, begin cooking pasta 10-12 minutes before your sauce is complete, according to package directions, in order to give yourself enough time for both to be ready at the same time.
    7. When ready, remove bay leaves. If the sauce has not thickened to your liking yet, increase the heat slightly and simmer for another 15-30 minutes uncovered.
    8. Serve bolognese meat sauce with pasta and plenty of freshly grated cheese! Enjoy!

    Bolognese Recipe Tips

    • Pot for Bolognese Sauce: Use a big enough pot that the various liquids will be able to almost entirely evaporate. In the end, the sauce should be mostly meat with a little bit of very thick tomato sauce holding it together. I love using the Perfect Pot or a Dutch Oven for making bolognese.
    • Dicing the veggies: Do your best to dice the onion, carrots, and celery as evenly as you possibly can. Aim for ¼-inch dice. This is pretty much the only “work” involved in this recipe and the more exact you are, the better it will be!
    • Add the Parmigiano: There’s no Parmigiano Reggiano in the actual sauce but if you don’t grate some on top before digging in you’re senselessly depriving yourself. This is comfort food, after all!

    Make-Ahead Bolognese Sauce

My bolognese meat sauce is a fantastic recipe to make ahead, especially in batches if you want to have it ready whenever you like. Simply make the sauce according to the recipe instructions, allow it to cool completely, and transfer it to an airtight or covered container. Keep the Bolognese sauce in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze it as instructed below.

    Bolognese Recipes FAQs

What is the difference between Bolognese and spaghetti sauce?

In the U.S. we commonly think of spaghetti sauce as a tomato-based sauce, simmered with ground beef or sausage and served over spaghetti. Bolognese sauce is a meat sauce that may or may not have tomato in it. It's a thicker, heartier sauce and includes milk, which adds richness and tenderizes the meat.

    Is Bolognese gluten-free?

My recipe for Bolognese meat sauce is completely gluten-free; just be sure to serve it with another gluten-free grain or vegetable.

    Can I make vegetarian bolognese?

For a vegetarian bolognese sauce recipe, substitute the chicken stock for vegetable stock and omit all meat products from the sauce. Instead of using meat, use diced eggplant, mushrooms, or a combination of both.

grating cheese over bolognese sauce with pasta on a plate

What kind of meat goes in bolognese?

Traditionally, Bolognese sauce is made using a combination of beef and pork. My recipe for homemade Bolognese meat sauce uses a secret ingredient: pancetta. Also known as Italian bacon, pancetta is found in the deli section of the supermarket and adds the perfect salty and slightly sweet flavor to the sauce!

The best thing about making bolognese sauce is you can play around and find the combination you love the most. I love the flavor element ground pork brings to the dish, so my Bolognese always has both beef and pork.

But, if you don’t eat pork, by all means, use just ground beef. I’ve seen a few recipes that add veal, lamb, and even chicken liver to the mix!

    How to reheat Bolognese Sauce

To reheat, simply place it in the microwave and reheat on high in 1-minute increments, or heat it on the stove. I recommend reheating Bolognese in a small sauce pan over the stove on medium heat, stirring occasionally, usually 10-15 minutes or until heated through. This preserves some of the delicacies of the sauce.

Can you freeze meat sauce bolognese?

After trying my Bolognese meat sauce, you are going to want to keep plenty of it around! Freezing the Bolognese sauce is simple and convenient, giving you the perfect Italian comfort food whenever you want it.

Simply make the Bolognese according to recipe instructions. Allow to cool completely before transferring to an airtight, sealed container or freezer bag. Label the outside of the container and freeze for up to 5 months.

To reheat after freezing, allow the sauce to thaw overnight in the fridge. Gently reheat over a saucepan on the stove, generally on medium heat and for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.

    Sriracha Ham Glaze

    Ham Glaze Recipe FAQs

What is Ham Glaze made of?

Ham glazes always have the same base ingredients: fat and sugar! The fat melts with heat and gives the sugar something to melt into, which then beautifully seeps into the meat and flavors it while leaving a bit of sugar on top to caramelize it into a crunchy, sticky coating.

    Does ham need a glaze?

While ham can technically be cooked without using a glaze, you'd be shocked at the difference a glaze makes! Glazes coat the surface of the ham to lock in the moisture and infuse the meat with flavor. Without a glaze, ham runs the risk of being dry and bland.

Do you put ham glaze on before or after cooking?

Ham glaze should be applied in the last 30 minutes of cooking, as glazes are sugar-based, and heating them too much can cause the sugars to burn. For some recipes (like Instant Pot ham!), the cooking time is so short that the ham can be glazed immediately.

    Ham Glaze Tips

    • To add extra oomph to your favorite ham glaze, try changing up what liquid you pour into the bottom of the pan! My favorites are chicken broth and orange juice!
    • Because they're made from melted butter, glazes thicken quickly. Make them right before you need them so they don't have time to cool down and harden.
    • Different cuts of ham need to be glazed differently, too! For bone-in and boneless ham, make crisscrossing cuts across the top of the ham, then add the glaze- these lines help the glaze soak in. For spiral-cut, glaze the top of the ham and then between every slice.
    • Once you're comfortable with the ratio of butter to sugar, try making your own glazes with your favorite flavors! Mustard, soy sauce and fruits of all sorts make fantastic flavorings, so have fun experimenting!

    Easy Ham Glaze

My maple syrup and brown sugar ham glaze is the best glaze for ham I have ever tried, hands down. I make it at least once every year for Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, and it is always a hit with my family and friends.

I have cooked a lot of ham over the years, and have tried plenty of different ham glaze recipes. Nothing can beat how easy this one is. It uses only 3 ingredients and comes together in as many minutes. All you have to do is add the ingredients to a bowl, and mix!

So, the secret ingredient to the perfect ham glaze… the green onions! It adds an unexpectedly mild flavor of onions combined with the sweetness of the sugar. It is an amazing combination!

How to Make Glaze for Ham

    3 Ingredient Ham Glaze Tips

    • For best results, cook your ham with 1 cup of orange juice at the bottom of the pan.
    • I love reverse searing the ham with half a stick of butter.
    • The tastiest hams are the ones where the flavor of the glaze comes through in every bite. I recommend not only glazing the outside of the ham but also adding the glaze in between every slice if using a spiral ham.
    • I always double this recipe and serve the Brown Sugar Ham Sauce on the side for extra deliciousness. It is that good!

Brown sugar glaze uses maple syrup, brown sugar, and green onions. Additionally, I cook the ham with orange juice and plenty of butter for amazing flavor.

Whether you glaze a ham covered or uncovered depends on the cooking method you are using. If you are cooking ham in the Instant Pot, it requires no cover. If you are cooking it in the air fryer, cover it with foil, then uncover it halfway through the cooking time to add more glaze. If cooking ham in the oven, glaze it uncovered.

When should glaze be put on ham?

Glaze oven-baked ham within the last 30 minutes of cooking the ham. Cook for an hour in the oven, then remove and glaze the outside of the ham and between each slice, before cooking for an additional 30 minutes. If cooking in the Instant Pot or Air Fryer, the ham can be glazed immediately.

    • Instead of maple syrup and brown sugar, try using honey and sriracha!

    What is London Broil?

London Broil refers to two things: a few different cuts of beef such as top round and flank steak, and a cooking technique used for tenderizing even the toughest steaks. This involves marinating your beef for several hours up to overnight, to tenderize it, and then grilling it or roasting it in the oven. Finally, the beef is sliced thinly against the grain for the most tender meat.

    London Broil Marinade Recipe Ingredients

    • balsamic vinegar
    • soy sauce
    • Worcestershire sauce
    • olive oil
    • lemon juice freshly squeezed
    • garlic powder
    • brown sugar
    • powdered ginger
    • red pepper flakes
Mixing london broil marinade with whisk

    How to Marinate London Broil

    1. Whisk together balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, brown sugar, powdered ginger, and red pepper flakes until combined.
    2. After marinating and grilling your steak, you can use the leftover marinade from the bag to create a sauce.
    3. Pour the London Broil marinade from the bag into a skillet over medium heat on the stove.
    4. Mix and let it simmer and thicken until it forms a sauce.
    5. Serve over your steak. It is amazing!

What cut of beef is London Broil?

    Ham Broth FAQs

What seasonings are best for broth?

When making homemade bone broth such as ham stock from a bone, you can use fresh vegetables and herbs to add flavor to the stock, such as the classic mix of onions, celery, garlic, and carrots, as well as bay leaves. Other herbs to consider are rosemary, thyme, and lemongrass.

Can you buy ham bones to use for broth?

If you haven't cooked a full ham and want to make homemade stock, you may find ham bones in the meat section at your local grocery store for sale.

What to Make with Ham Bone Broth

Homemade ham bone broth is perfect used as a base for soups or stews, like split pea soup or ham bone soup. I love using ham broth in placement of vegetable broth, or water for pasta or rice when cooking most recipes!

    Storing Ham Bone Broth

    • Refrigerator: Store ham broth in an airtight container placed in the fridge for up to one week.
    • Freezing: Freezer ham broth for up to 3 months. I recommend storing it in smaller portions such as freezing it in an ice cube tray first, so you can thaw accordingly!

    Remoulade Sauce

Spooning remoulade sauce onto a philly pork sandwich

My Remoulade Sauce recipe uses Creole seasoning for a creamy, tangy, simple sauce you can whip up in just 5 minutes with no special tools required. Remoulade sauce is perfect for serving with beef, chicken, fish, and more, and the ingredients to make it are easy to find.

    Remoulade Sauce Recipe

Remoulade sauce is the best sauce for fish, hands down, but did you know it's also an amazing choice for serving with beef, chicken, pork, and vegetables? This tangy sauce has the perfect combination of Louisiana flavors to fit every protein!

My remoulade sauce recipe is truly what inspired the idea behind Easy Sauce Recipes. This incredible sauce has been a hit since I first shared it, and has even saved meals for me in the past.

    Remoulade Ingredients

    • mayonnaise
    • Creole mustard or spicy brown mustard
    • ketchup
    • Louisiana hot sauce
    • lemon juice
    • Creole seasoning
    • garlic minced
    • freshly cracked black pepper
    • dill relish
mixing remoulade sauce in a bowl

    Recipe for Remoulade Sauce

    1. Add all ingredients to a bowl.
    2. Stir until thoroughly combined.
    3. Serve with your favorite recipes using remoulade sauce, or as a dip! Enjoy!

How to Make Creole Remoulade Spicy

Kick up the spice level of my easy remoulade sauce recipe by adding extra Louisiana hot sauce. Give it 2 to 3 Tablespoons of hot sauce and you will have an amazing spicy remoulade.

    What is Remoulade?

Remoulade (pronunciation: rey-moo-lahd) sauce is a French condiment common to Creole and Cajun recipes from Louisiana. It is a mildly spicy and creamy sauce recipe that pairs well with an endless variety of meals, especially seafood.

Give my remoulade sauce recipe a try and I know you will want to serve it with everything you can think of, from beef to pork and all your favorite dishes in-between. Definitely use it as crab cake remoulade sauce - that's the best way to serve it!

    Creole Remoulade for Prime Rib

One year, I accidentally overcooked my roast beef... a prime rib! This Lousiana remoulade saved the day. I whipped it up in no time and served it with the main course, and no one even noticed it was a little overcooked. It was game-changing for me.

What really makes my remoulade sauce the best is its use of dill relish. Dill relish adds the perfect texture by giving the sauce a little bit of crunch, and the flavor from the pickle complements the other remoulade ingredients beautifully.

    Remoulade Recipe FAQs

Where does remoulade sauce come from?

Although remoulade sauce is traditionally a French dish originating from France, it is most well-known in the US for its popularity in Cajun and Creole recipes from Louisiana.

What is Louisiana remoulade sauce made of?

Common remoulade ingredients include mayonnaise, spicy mustard, a mix of Cajun or Creole seasonings, and other additions such as hot sauce and lemon juice. My easy remoulade sauce recipe uses mayonnaise, Creole mustard, lemon juice, Louisiana hot sauce, garlic, black pepper, dill relish, ketchup, and Creole seasoning.

remoulade sauce in a bowl with a spoon

    Creole Seasoning vs. Cajun Seasoning

The difference between Creole and Cajun seasoning comes from the level of spices used.

While Cajun and Creole are often used interchangeably to describe seasonings, Cajun seasoning is typically more simple, using garlic powder, black pepper, Cayenne pepper, and onion powder. Creole adds more herbs, such as oregano, thyme, and paprika.

Whether you use Creole seasoning or Cajun seasoning in my Louisiana remoulade sauce is totally up to your preference. You can use whichever you prefer for making either a Cajun Remoulade Sauce or a Creole Remoulade Sauce.

    How to Store Remoulade Sauce

Store remoulade sauce in an airtight container such as a jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Give it a stir before using it again.

    Garlic Butter Sauce

I am obsessed with my garlic butter sauce recipe. After trying it just once, I sought out other recipes to use it for, just for an excuse to eat more garlic herb butter. It really is that good.

My family loves it, too. They know I'm going to be making my garlic butter sauce for steak if I'm cooking steak for dinner, and I love to make it for burgers, vegetables, bread, and even Thanksgiving turkey, too!

When I say it goes with everything, I mean it goes with everything (except dessert, of course). I have yet to try this buttery garlic sauce with something that it hasn't improved the flavor of dramatically. You just can't go wrong with it!

red wine sauce in a pan with a spoon and parsley

My Red Wine Jus recipe is a must-have staple for your kitchen! It's flavorful, rich, and a perfect pairing for a pan-seared or grilled steak. My red wine reduction sauce uses drippings from steak as the base, complemented with fresh ingredients and herbs for an intensely satisfying sauce.

And, it only takes under 10 minutes to make!

    Red Wine Jus Recipe

This red wine reduction sauce is the result of wanting a beautiful sauce to pair with a tender, juicy steak! All those delicious brown bits are scraped up from the bottom of the pan, and the drippings are just what you need to make the base of a beautiful reduction sauce.

Making the perfect reduction is just as it sounds: the ingredients reduce as all the flavors intensify. The result is a perfectly silky and concentrated sauce, excellent for serving with steak and beef dishes, but also with lamb, pork, and even roasted vegetables (especially a grilled Portobello mushroom!).

    Red Wine Sauce Ingredients

    • drippings from steak or butter if you have no drippings
    • minced garlic or garlic paste
    • minced shallots or red onions
    • red wine of your choice or equal amounts beef stock if not using wine
    • balsamic vinegar
    • fresh thyme plus more for garnish
    • beef stock
    • roughly chopped parsley leaves
    •  butter

How to Make Red Wine Jus

    1. Add steak drippings from a freshly cooked steak to a pan over medium heat. If you do not have steak drippings, melt butter in a cast-iron skillet. Then add garlic and shallots and saute, stirring 1 minute until softened.

    2. Add red wine, beef stock, balsamic vinegar, and fresh thyme sprigs. Bring liquid to a rapid simmer over medium-high heat.

    Red Wine Sauces Recipe Tips

    • Drinking wine rather than cooking wine works best for red wine reduction sauce. Trust me, you will taste the difference in flavor!
    • If you are making this recipe and you do not have steak drippings, you can substitute 1 Tablespoon butter to melt in the pan before adding the garlic and shallots.
    • When making a pan sauce, always monitor your heat. If the sauce breaks, it is likely because the smoking point of the fat was too high when the wine was added.
    • If you notice the sauce starting to break, immediately remove from heat and begin to whisk vigorously.

Choosing a Red Wine for Sauce for Steak

Depending on the type of wine you select, different notes are added to the sauce. I prefer to use full-bodied reds like Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. These wines have rich and fruity notes of cherry, plum, and currants which work nicely with steak.

Some dry red wines also add spicy notes, like pepper, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, anise, ginger, or cardamom. These wines typically come from Syrah, Grenache, Petite Syrah, Malbec, or Zinfandel grapes.

For the lightest version of this sauce, you can use a Pinot Noir, Chianti, or French Cotes du Rhone. These wines are typically lighter and have earthy notes, like oak or smoke because the skins of the grape are thinner.

Whatever flavors sound best to you are what you should use for your red wine reduction sauce!

    Red Wine Jus FAQs

Is there alcohol in red wine reduction sauce?

Simmering wine will remove some of the alcohol content, but not all. Generally, after 15 minutes of cooking time, only 40% of the alcohol is retained. If you need to omit the red wine, you could simply add ½ cup more beef stock and allow it to reduce. Alternatively, if you can find non-alcoholic red wine, you can use it for this recipe.

What does adding red wine do for a sauce?

Red wine gives the sauce added richness and robust flavor. It is best to add red wine to a sauce after the vegetables have softened (in this case, garlic and shallots).

What does it mean to reduce a wine sauce?

Reduction is the process of thickening and intensifying the flavor of a liquid mixture by simmering or boiling. It is best to reduce a sauce by not using a lid, as this will allow the vapors to escape the pan. The longer the red wine is left on the heat, the more it will reduce.

    Is red wine reduction gluten-free?

This sauce is thickened by reducing it, not by adding a thickening agent. Wine does not contain gluten, so as long as you are using a gluten-free beef stock, this is a gluten-free sauce recipe.

How long does red wine reduction last?

This red wine pan sauce can be stored in an airtight container and left in the fridge for up to 4 days or 6 months in the freezer. To reheat, it is best to use low heat over the stove and slowly bring it back to temperature.

Can I freeze red wine reduction sauce?

Red wine reduction sauce can be stored in a freezer bag or airtight container to add to the freezer. Here's a useful tip: pour red wine reduction sauce into plastic ice cube trays, then freeze. Transfer frozen cubes into freezer bags. Red wine sauce can be frozen for up to 12 months.

What to Serve with Red Wine Sauce

    • Reverse-Sear Ribeye Steak
    • Air Fryer Prime Rib
    • Sous Vide Pork Chops
    • Grilled Lamb Chops

If I am individually plating a meal, I think a little pool of red wine sauce on a plate with a juicy steak on top is as Instagram-worthy as it gets! This sauce also looks great in a gravy boat, so each person can add as much sauce as they like. Try pairing my red wine reduction sauce with some of these fabulous recipes!

    [feast_advanced_jump_to]

    Ham Glaze with Pineapple

My family and I are big fans of ham every year for the holidays. I make one for Christmas and Easter every year, and honestly, I'm often tempted to make it for Thanksgiving, too. Sometimes I do!

This ham glaze with pineapple might just make you want to cook up a ham dinner outside of the holidays, too. It's just that tasty. I love experimenting with different glaze recipes, but there's something about this classic pineapple glaze that will make you want to come back to it again and again.

Pineapple and ham are a perfect match: sweet pineapple pairs so well with savory ham, it's just irresistible. And with how that sweet pineapple flavor clings to the leftover ham, you'll want to make so many leftover recipes with it, from pineapple ham pizza to a ham fried rice!

Pineapple Glaze for Ham Recipe Tips

    • Although fresh pineapple should never be placed directly on ham, pineapple ham glaze can be made with fresh pineapple because cooking it down makes it less acidic. I recommend using fresh pineapple in this glaze for the flavor!
    • Pair this glaze with some fresh maraschino cherries on the ham for additional sweetness and an amazing flavor combination.
    • If you save the glaze for later and find it's thickened too much, heat it up a little on the stove or in the microwave to loosen it up.

    Storing Pineapple Ham Glaze

    • Store pineapple glaze for ham for up to 3-5 days in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
    • You can also freeze the glaze by adding it to a freezer-safe container with at least a half-inch of space at the top to account for liquid expansion. Allow it to cool first, then place in the freezer, labeled with the date, for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before using.

    Pineapple Ham Sauce FAQs

What happens when you put fresh pineapple on ham?

Typically, you would not want to put fresh pineapple on ham as the acidity of pineapple breaks down the fibers of the meat and will make ham mushy. However, this is not an issue in cooked glazes, so you can use fresh pineapple to make pineapple sauce for ham so long as you cook it down as instructed.

Do you glaze a ham before or after baking?

Although some recipes suggest you do not glaze the ham until the final 30 minutes of cooking it out of concern for the sugars burning, you can glaze the ham before baking so long as you wrap it in foil before adding it to the oven. Glaze the entire ham, including between the slices, for best flavor. When using pineapple sauce for ham, for additional flavor, use a roasting pan with a rack and place pineapple slices and pineapple juice underneath the rack while baking the ham.

    Lemon Garlic Sauce Tips

    • Cooking chicken with lemon garlic butter sauce? Try marinating your chicken first in my Chicken Breast Marinade!
    • Always slowly add the cream when making creamy lemon butter sauce, or any sauce using dairy. If you add it too quickly it may heat too fast and curdle.
    • If you want to add herbs, you can use dried herbs instead of fresh. Use 1 teaspoon of dried herbs for every 1 tablespoon of fresh herbs.
    • Light cream can be used instead of heavy cream if you need the sauce to be a little lighter, but please note the consistency won't be the same.
