I use it on everything from grilled chicken to beef stir fry recipes, and oh, you need to try it! It's a perfect balance of sweet with a little kick of heat that gives it extra flavor. I'll show you how to make teriyaki sauce that's simple but so delicious!
Easy Teriyaki Sauce Ingredients
- soy sauce or gluten-free substitutes such as tamari or coconut aminos
- rice wine vinegar
- Sriracha sauce
- ginger finely chopped; or, ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- garlic cloves smashed and finely chopped; or, 1½ teaspoons garlic paste
- scallion or green onion, thinly sliced (both the green and white parts)
- orange zested
How to Make Teriyaki Sauce
- Add all your ingredients to a bowl and mix to combine thoroughly.
- Optional: Heat on the stove over low heat until heated through or the sauce reaches the consistency you like. The longer you cook the sauce, the thicken it will get.
- Serve with your favorite dish, and enjoy!
Teriyaki Sauce Recipe Tips
- Make it hotter: Add a little more sriracha sauce or some red pepper flakes.
- Make it sweeter: Add a little bit of honey or a sprinkling of sugar. I recommend heating the sauce if you add either of these ingredients so the sugar can melt properly.
Simple Teriyaki Sauce Recipe FAQs
My easy teriyaki glaze uses modified ingredients from traditional recipes. The teriyaki sauce ingredients you will need are: soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sriracha sauce, ginger, garlic cloves, a scallion, and orange zest. This keeps the ingredients simple but so flavorful.
Mix your ingredients together until they fully combine. If you prefer, you can heat it up in a small saucepan on the stove over low heat, until it warms through.
How to Thicken Teriyaki Sauce
To thicken teriyaki stir fry sauce, add it to a small saucepan over low heat until it heats and reaches the consistency you prefer. Heating it will gradually thicken the sauce.
Gluten-Free Teriyaki Sauce Instructions
Yes! The only gluten-containing ingredient in this teriyaki recipe is soy sauce. Instead of soy sauce, use a gluten-free soy sauce substitute such as tamari or coconut aminos. Using coconut aminos will also lower the sodium of the dish.
