Ranch Dressing Recipes FAQs
You can use 1 teaspoon of dried herbs for every tablespoon of fresh herbs. So, for example, instead of 1 tablespoon of fresh dill, use 1 teaspoon of dried dill.
Use ¼ teaspoon garlic powder in place of the minced garlic.
Homemade buttermilk ranch dressing lasts 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator.
This dressing can be made ahead of time. It will thicken when refrigerated. Additionally, if you're using fresh garlic, the flavor of the garlic will intensify. If you aren't using your dressing right away, we recommend cutting back a little on the garlic if you'd like less garlicky flavor.

Found myself with a large salad and no Ranch so thought I'd look up the recipe, see if I could make it myself. Low and behold this delicious, easy recipe that calls for ingredients (or easy substitutes) most of us have on hand already. Hacked the buttermilk (who has real buttermilk?) Only had fresh chives. Substituted dry for the other herbs (parsley, 1tsp and tarragon 1tsp didn't have dill). SO GOOD

Susan, this comment made my day! Thank you so much for letting me know how you feel about the dressing. This sounds like it was an excellent salad.
