Honey Glaze on Ham
For me, a good ham glaze makes or breaks the ham itself, and I challenge myself to come up with something new nearly every year. Any ham glaze should both add flavor to the ham and help keep it moist while it cooks - no one likes dried out ham, after all!
Of course, even when I'm trying out other ham glazes (and they have all been delicious!), my family always asks for this honey glaze for ham over the holidays, at least once. It's both sweet and slightly savory, and totally irresistible with ham.
As an added bonus, any ham you make with this glaze will make the best leftover ham recipes. Nothing could be better than honey ham sliders!

How to Glaze a Ham
- If you're preparing ham in the oven, begin by preheating your oven to 325°F. Place ham cut-side down on a roasting pan tented with foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Once an hour is up, remove the foil and brush the entire ham with glaze, including between each slice of ham. Add chicken broth to the bottom of the roasting pan, then bake uncovered for another 30 minutes, basting as you prefer.

Brown Sugar Honey Glaze FAQ
If you're baking ham in the oven, it's best to glaze it after baking the ham for an hour tented in foil before baking it again, uncovered, for 30 minutes. This ensures the glaze doesn't burn in the time it takes the ham to cook, while also giving it a ton of flavor and moisture in the last 30 minutes of cook time.
Glazing a ham will add moisture to a ham, but in addition to glazing, you should also add chicken broth to the bottom of the roasting pan. This is the true secret to ensuring your ham doesn't dry out.
