    Bulgogi Sauce Recipe

Have you tried making Korean Bulgogi Sauce? If not, you are missing out on one of the most mouth-watering and flavorful sauces out there! I was first introduced to bulgogi a few years ago at a Korean BBQ restaurant, and decided to try making the sauce from scratch.

Let me tell you, it was a game changer and so easy to make! The combination of soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil and garlic creates a unique and savory flavor I guarantee you will love. It has the perfect balance of sweetness, saltiness, and umami, so you can use it for all kinds of meat or veggies.

Since making it for the first time, homemade bulgogi sauce has become a staple in my kitchen! It's so versatile that I use it for everything from marinating beef for a barbecue to dipping roasted vegetables in the sauce. Trust me, once you try it, you won't be able to get enough!

    What is bulgogi sauce?

Bulgogi sauce is a savory, slightly sweet sauce used as a sauce or marinade in many Korean dishes; namely, bulgogi, which is thinly sliced meat cooked over a grill, griddle, or in stir-fry.

The sauce is made from a blend of soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and other ingredients. Korean bulgogi sauce is known for its rich and flavorful taste, which adds a delicious savory, sweet and salty flavor to beef and vegetables!

    Bulgogi Sauce Recipe Tips

    • Use fresh garlic: I love using freshly minced garlic in this recipe as it gives much better flavor than store-bought minced garlic.
    • Adjust the sweetness: If you prefer your sauce a little sweeter, add more brown sugar and give it a taste.
    • Try out low-sodium soy sauce: Try using a lower sodium soy sauce to help control the saltiness of the sauce.
    • Marinate overnight: The flavors are much richer if you allow your choice of protein to marinate overnight!

    Storing Bulgogi Sauce

    • To refrigerate: You can store any leftover bulgogi sauce in the refrigerator, covered in an airtight container, for up to one week. The sauce may thicken sitting in the fridge, so make sure to bring it to room temperature and stir it before using.
    • To freeze: Place sauce in an airtight container. Liquid expands, so leave half an inch of space at the top so it doesn't burst when freezing. Store in the back of your freezer for up to 2 months. Be sure to thaw completely in the refrigerator overnight before using.

    Bulgogi Sauce FAQ

What does bulgogi sauce taste like?
