    That is, until this vegan substitute for fish sauce. It's the perfect vegan fish sauce recipe, using a savory blend of mushrooms, tamari, seaweed, chickpea miso, and garlic for a flavorful sauce you will love!

    I guarantee you will love this fish sauce recipe so much, you'll find yourself using it even if you aren't vegan yourself. It is just so tasty!

    Vegan Fish Sauce Ingredients

    • Shiitake mushrooms
    • Tamari sauce
    • Wakame seaweed
    • Chickpea miso paste
    • Garlic
    • Water

    How to Make Fish Sauce Vegan

    1. Slice the mushrooms.

    2. Take a small saucepan and add the water to it, along with the sliced mushrooms, seaweed, peeled garlic cloves, tamari sauce, and miso paste.

    3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer 15-20 minutes.

    4. Remove from the heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. Once cool, strain the sauce into a mason jar or other airtight container of your preference.

    • If you have time, let the ingredients steep overnight or for up to 24 hours before straining to extract extra flavor.
    • You can use dried shiitake instead of fresh for a deeper flavor.
