    Mexican Crema Recipe

Taco nights are always a favorite for my family! Ever since my kids were little, there was always a magic to setting out all the little dishes of toppings and gathering everyone around to make their own, like a delicious table of edible arts and crafts.

Nowadays, my kids are all grown up, but that doesn't stop us from all loving a good taco. And learning the value of a simple Mexican-style crema sauce made our favorite tacos even better! It's creamy, tangy and so, so easy. Whip it up the night before, and it'll be perfect by dinner time!

    • Try this crema sauce with all your favorites! While it's especially perfect as a crema sauce for fish tacos or your favorite sort of taco filling, it's also delicious on mexican rice, bowls, nachos, sopes and tostadas!

    Plus, some amazing variations:

    Crema Sauce FAQs

What is crema sauce made of?

Crema sauce is made of a mix of cream, sour cream and acid, usually lime juice. It's blended together into a creamy sauce, then rests so the flavors can infuse.

Is Mexican Crema just sour cream?

Sour cream is thicker and more tart than Mexican crema, and doesn't have any extra added flavors like lime juice. The thinner and creamier crema sauce has a better consistency for pouring, drizzling and dipping!

What is the flavor of crema?

Crema is naturally slightly tart and tangy, with a rich creaminess meant to balance out spicier dishes. It's naturally made for adding more flavors to and can be modified however you wish.
