Red Wine Jus

This red wine reduction sauce is the result of wanting a beautiful sauce to pair with a tender, juicy steak!

You will need...

Drippings from steak Garlic Shallots Red wine  Balsamic vinegar Thyme Beef stock Parsley leaves Butter

Choosing a Red Wine

Use a full-bodied reds like Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. These wines have rich currants which work nicely with steak.

Flour Bowl

Add drippings to a pan over medium heat. Then add garlic and shallots and saute, stirring 1 minute.

Add wine, beef stock, balsamic vinegar, and thyme sprigs. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat.

Allow the mixture to reduce until thickened, approximately 3 to 5 minutes.

Remove the thyme and turn the heat to low. Whisk in butter.

Add parsley and season with salt and pepper. Pair with steak and enjoy!
