Making homemade Ham Bone Broth is so easy and so worth it! It's the best way to use up that leftover ham bone for soups, rice, and more!

Equipment

  • 1 Large pot (holds 12 cups of water)

Ingredients
  

  • ham bone
  • 2 celery stalks roughly chopped
  • 2 medium carrots roughly chopped
  • ½ medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 12 cups water

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot add ham bones, carrots, celery, bay leaves, garlic, half an onion, and 12 cups of water.

  • Cover with a lid and simmer on low heat for 4 hours.

  • Remove the lid and give the broth a good stir. Remove bay leaves.

  • Strain ham broth if needed and store in an airtight container. Enjoy broth in soups!

Notes

  • Store your ham bone in the freezer until you're ready to make ham broth!
  • Once your stock has finished cooking, remove the bone and set aside to cool. Pick any leftover ham pieces off the bone and enjoy!
  • If you don't have a ham bone, you can easily make ham broth with leftover ham pieces and follow the same instructions.
